Sedare is an AI platform that helps families handle the administrative side of estate settlement. We know you are trusting us during one of life's hardest moments. We take that seriously.
This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. We have written it in plain English on purpose.
What we collect
Death certificate image
When you upload a death certificate, we receive that image or PDF file. We use it only to extract the structured data needed to generate your notification letters. We automatically delete the certificate image 30 days after your letters are ready, and you can delete it yourself sooner at any time. The data we extract from it and the letters we generate stay with your case so you can re-download your letters later. We never sell or share any of it.
Name and email address
If you submit a form on our site — such as the "Notify Me" form on our homepage or the contact form — we collect the details you provide, such as your name and email address, so we can respond and let you know when new features or updates are available. These submissions are received and stored by our own systems.
Usage information
Our hosting provider (Render) automatically logs standard server information — your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this only to keep the service running and secure.
How we use your information
We use your information only for the purpose you provided it:
- —Death certificate images are used solely to extract data fields and generate your notification letters.
- —Email addresses from the notification form are used to send product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- —Server logs are used for security monitoring and to diagnose technical problems.
We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers or data brokers. Full stop.
How long we keep your data
Death certificate image: automatically deleted 30 days after your letters are ready, and deletable sooner on request at any time. The data we extract from the certificate and the notification letters we generate are kept with your case so you can generate and re-download your letters. Everything is encrypted in transit, never sold, and never shared with third parties.
Notify Me email addresses: Kept until you ask us to remove them. Email help@sedare.ai and we will delete your address within 48 hours.
Server logs: Retained for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted by our hosting provider.
Third-party services
We use a small number of third-party services to run Sedare:
- —Render — cloud hosting provider. Processes all web traffic and stores server logs.
- —Resend — email delivery service. Sends the transactional and notification emails our forms generate, such as checklist deliveries and confirmations.
We do not use advertising trackers, social media pixels, or analytics services that profile individual users.
Security
All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (the lock icon in your address bar). Death certificate images are processed over encrypted connections and used only to generate your notification letters.
We do not guarantee any system is completely secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information and we retain only the data we need to provide the service.
Your rights
You have the right to request that we delete any personal information we hold about you. That data is the details we extracted from your death certificate and the notification letters generated from them, which we keep with your case so you can re-download them, plus your email address if you submitted the notification form. The certificate image itself is deleted automatically 30 days after your letters are ready, and you can delete it sooner at any time.
To request deletion, email us at help@sedare.ai with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." We will respond within 48 hours.
Children's privacy
Sedare is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have received information from a child under 13, please contact us at help@sedare.ai and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service evolves. If we make material changes, we will note the updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Sedare after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
