Terms of Use

Plain English. No legalese. Effective April 2026.

Sedare is an AI platform that helps families handle the administrative side of estate settlement. These terms govern your use of the Sedare website (sedare.ai) and application (app.sedare.ai). By using Sedare, you agree to these terms.

We wrote this in plain language because you have enough paperwork to deal with.

What Sedare does

Sedare uses artificial intelligence to extract data from death certificates and generate institution notification letters. You upload a death certificate, our AI reads it, and we produce letters addressed to government agencies, banks, insurance companies, and other institutions that need to be notified of a death.

Sedare is a document automation tool. We are not a law firm, accounting firm, financial advisor, or estate planning service. The letters we generate are starting points — you should review them before sending, and you should consult a licensed professional for legal, tax, or financial advice specific to your situation.

Who can use Sedare

You must be at least 18 years old to use Sedare. By using the service, you confirm that you are legally authorized to act on behalf of the estate — for example, as the executor, personal representative, surviving spouse, or next of kin.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right to upload and process the death certificate you provide. Do not upload documents for estates you are not authorized to administer.

Your account

When you use Sedare, you may create an account or provide an email address. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us immediately at help@sedare.ai.

Pricing and payment

Sedare's current pricing is $49 per estate for the Essential plan. Payment is processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Your payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and is never stored on our servers.

All sales are final once the notification letters have been generated and delivered. However, if Sedare fails to produce usable letters from your uploaded certificate, you may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase by emailing help@sedare.ai.

We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time. Any price changes will not affect estates you have already paid for.

How the AI works — and its limits

Our AI extracts data from death certificates with 98.7% accuracy on critical fields (names, dates, Social Security numbers) based on our internal testing across 108 certificates from 14 U.S. states. That is high, but it is not 100%.

Every extracted field includes a confidence score. Fields that fall below our confidence threshold are flagged for your review. You are responsible for reviewing the extracted data and the generated letters before sending them to any institution.

Sedare does not guarantee that every field will be extracted correctly, that every institution will accept our letter format, or that the letters constitute legal notification in your jurisdiction. Some institutions may require additional documentation or specific forms beyond what Sedare provides.

What you are responsible for

When you use Sedare, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about yourself and the estate
  • Upload only death certificates you are legally authorized to process
  • Review all extracted data and generated letters before sending them
  • Not use the service for fraudulent, illegal, or unauthorized purposes
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or reproduce our AI models or letter templates
  • Not use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service

What we are responsible for

We will make reasonable efforts to keep Sedare available, accurate, and secure. We will process your death certificate data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We will respond to support requests within 2 business days.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes that temporarily affect availability.

Limitation of liability

Sedare is a document automation tool provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Sedare is not liable for errors in extracted data that you did not review and correct before sending letters
  • Sedare is not liable for any institution's response to, or rejection of, letters generated by our service
  • Sedare is not liable for delays, penalties, or consequences that result from estate administration decisions you make using our output
  • Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the specific estate in question

This does not affect any rights you have under applicable consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by contract.

Intellectual property

The Sedare platform, including our AI models, letter templates, website design, and brand assets, is owned by Sedare Inc. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of our platform without written permission.

The notification letters we generate for you are yours to use. You have full rights to print, send, modify, and distribute the letters we produce for your estate.

The death certificate you upload remains your document. We do not claim any ownership over your uploaded files or the data extracted from them.

Termination

You may stop using Sedare at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you are violating these terms, using the service fraudulently, or engaging in activity that harms other users or the platform.

If we terminate your access, you will still receive any letters you have already paid for and that have been generated.

Dispute resolution

If you have a dispute with Sedare, we prefer to resolve it informally. Email help@sedare.ai and we will work with you in good faith to find a resolution.

If informal resolution is not possible, any legal disputes will be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as our service evolves. If we make material changes, we will note the updated effective date at the top of this page and, where practical, notify you by email. Continued use of Sedare after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
